Drone Racing 2

Take your drone skills to the next level and become a licensed pilot

If you've already done our Drone Racing 1 course, this will take your skills to the next level. Take charge of a high-speed drone that has enough lift to fly with a recording camera (must be purchased separately) to enter the world of drone cinematography.

As with our introductory course, you'll learn about drone physics, hone your skills even more on a flight simulator, learn how to maintain your drone, and build our V2.0 LED hoop. However this time, you'll build your drone from the ground-up and learn how to connect brushless motors, cameras and a flight controller. You'll even mod your drone with a custom LED light display.

You'll also study for and take the official CAA test at camp and leave with a flyer ID to allow you to fly outside when you get home.

This course is strictly for those who have done Drone Racing 1, as you'll need your headset, and (most importantly) FPV drone flying skills. When booking this version of 'Drone Racing' you should select the 'Level 2' option on checkout.

Drone Racing 2 In Detail

As with Drone Racing 1, you'll practise flying on a realistic virtual simulator using your transmitter, and then move on to the real thing. This time, instead of the 'level 1' drone, you'll be building our high-speed 'level 2' drone - with extended flight time, more powerful motors that can go faster, tackle light wind outdoors, and even carry a miniature video camera.

The drone you'll be using is still safe, with built-in propeller guards and professional-quality 'brushless' motors, but is a great next step to move from purely indoor drones to more powerful drones, useful for both indoor and outdoor flight.

Take everything home at the end, including your drone, batteries, charger, an upgraded V2.0 LED hoop, and a new professional ELRS transmitter. If you want to fly it with a separate recording camera we're very happy to advise how this can be done after the camp.

Also, unlike the 'level 1' version of the course, we'll also be tutoring you in drone laws, and you'll complete the CAA's official theory test and gain a flyer ID to allow you to be licensed to fly outside when you go home. (Please note to legally fly when you return home, your parents will also need to register for an 'operator ID' when you go home which is quick and simple and costs just over £11)

01

Advanced Drone Flying

You've already learnt how to fly FPV in Drone Racing 1, so take your skills to the next level on the simulator, this time tuned for your more powerful drone. You'll also study for your official CAA test and become a licensed drone pilot with a 'Flyer ID'.

02

Getting the Real Drone

You'll then move on to the advanced drone - this time building it from scratch before testing your skills in our drone course.

03

Advanced Hoop & Mods

Just like Drone Racing 1, you'll build a programmable LED hoop for flight practice, but also add mods to your drone including a coloured light display strip and a 'lost drone' beeper function.
