Campers can choose when they arrive between two versions of the course, depending on if they want to concentrate more on artistic design or complex coding:
Creator Version (all ages) - create your own FPS games from scratch using an amazing toolkit of terrains, textures, characters, AI units, weapons and more. Learn how to create engaging levels to make an amazing gaming experience, whilst customising everything from the colour of the grass to the fire and recoil of the weapons.
Developer Version (ages 11+ only) - as well as creating personalised levels, characters and game-play experiences, dive deeper into the code and mechanics behind the game elements, learning the C# programming language to have complete control over every aspect of the game.
Campers take home all of their files, assets and projects, and they can continue designing and creating more games at home. They will have full access to all of the course material after the camp and can download a version of Unity free for both PCs and Macs.
Learning Unity
You'll jump straight into Unity, learning how the editor works, how you can import assets, design 3D landscapes, and use textures and lighting, before learning about game compilation, enemies, weapons, ammunition and health systems.
Creating your first FPS
You'll then learn from the ground-up how to create an amazing-looking FPS game complete doors and world animations, terrains, realistic enemy meshes and AI movement, animations, objectives and levels, and game over screens.
